SLM Solutions: New order intake continues to rise
Luebeck, Germany, October 6, 2014 – SLM Solutions Group AG, a leading provider of metal-based additive manufacturing technology (often referred to as "3D printing"), is reporting a more than doubled new order intake during the first nine months of 2014. Large industrial companies are also increasingly submitting orders for several machines at a time.
New order intake at SLM Solutions amounted to 36 machines as of September 30, 2014, far ahead of the previous year's 14 machines. CFO Uwe Bögershausen welcomes this trend: "We generally receive most of our orders during the third and fourth quarters: Given the trend in our new order intake to date, we are confident that we will reach the upper end of our targeted range of between 40 and 50 machines by the year-end."
Customers' ordering patterns have also changed: While exclusively individual machines were ordered in the comparable period 2013, five customers have already ordered several machines during the first nine months of 2014. As CEO Dr. Markus Rechlin notes: "This trend confirms that globally operating industrial companies are increasingly submitting larger orders in order to deploy SLM Solutions systems in industrial production environments for direct part manufacturing. As a technology leader, we are perfectly positioned to benefit from the market growth that is anticipated for the coming years."
The SLM 500HL flagship product can be equipped with up to four lasers. In combination with the hull- core imaging process, this multi-laser technology enables an almost sixfold increase in build rate. These strengths position the SLM 500HL as the most productive laser melting system currently on the market.
